Fundamentals of the Market: A special multi-faceted panel discussion on factors affecting western electricity markets. The discussion is expected to include market directions and trends, basic supply and demand issues, the impact of renewables, regulatory and legislative changes, and other variables of interest. A brief summary on PNW hydrology will be included.

  • Highlights of the Dodd-Frank Implementation: What’s covered? What’s not? Which (if any) of your transaction are (or might be) exempt? If you don’t know, don’t miss this presentation! Instructor: Diane Zeiler, EDF Trading North America, LLC.
  • Fundamentals of the Energy Imbalance Market: An update on the emerging voluntary non-ISO regional economic dispatch market for imbalance energy in the West. The EIM effectively aggregates the variability of generation and load across multiple balancing areas to reduce the total amount of required load-following reserves. Instructor: Stephen J.   • Nuts & Bolts of REC Trading (featuring the New Schedule R): This session takes a practical look at the challenges and opportunities involved in trading renewable energy and carbon credits, and includes a brief tutorial on WSPP’s proposed new Service Schedule R (currently pending FERC approval).
